Mockingjay Summary & Study Guide

mockingjay the book summary

I'd demand to know why I was being toyed with, used even, and frankly? The last three pages make all the heavy, intense, painfulness of the rest of the book almost worth it, in a strange way. Faint of heart need not apply, I mean it. Does their definition of you become your own? But I'll admit, I was on Team Gale throughout the series, because he was strong and resilient and resourceful and caring. I don't really cry during books. Under Paylor's administration, the Hunger Games are abolished with the arenas replaced by memorials. She was used and manipulated, sustaining mental and physical injuries.

Fun to read this trilogy. I also couldn't believe Katniss's trial just happened without us. It's like in the first book, when we were constantly being told exactly what the dandelions represent. I am seventeen years old. What the fuck happened to Peeta? I thought Katniss was intelligent, resourceful, and displayed tremendous strength in character. That cannot be how she ended it! The movies were amazing too.

Mockingjay

The person you one day see yourself marrying. She is too human for that. Without any character development from any of the characters , the story relied too heavily on action without connecting the pieces, developing those story lines, or making me care about the characters involved. And it destroys the integrity of the previous books in the series. Through the chaos it is difficult to tell which side is winning since there are explosions, gunfire from every direction and people dying in the street. Half the book, she's throwing herself pity parties in the closet literally! He could have a few flaws. Actually, I think Collins is trying to get us to ask ourselves questions about what justifies war, and where the line should be drawn between justice and vengeance.

Summary

mockingjay the book summary

I've thought long and hard as to how I should review this book. Haymitch is a recovering alcoholic at the beginning of the book, but only because alcohol isn't allowed in District 13. She only sees the random events that lead her to become the symbol of rebellion against tyrrany. This amps up the melodrama at times -- and so does her love triangle. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. It was the same reoccurring theme: Katniss was manipulated and controlled by everyone around her and she didn't think or do anything of her own will. I struggled to find motivation from President Snow targeting children, to understand why the citizens of the capital continued to believe him, to accept that these villains could be this sadistically evil, to believe that this much could go wrong for one person, to champion Collin's bleak take on humanity.

Then Katnis finally agree to be the rebels face mocking jay. The love triangle wasn't well played out. District 13's people are accommodating, yet its utilitarian and overly controlled atmosphere makes it very difficult for the refugees to adapt. In this thrilling finale, Collins uses her main character to comment on: the power of the media and those who control it; how circumstances can turn gentle people into warriors; how power corrupts; the futility of war; and how those who develop weapons have no control over how they will be used. The hospital burned down in district eight.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins

mockingjay the book summary

Same reason all the victors seemed to gravitate toward one another. Im not necessarily talking about Snow's capture or Peetas rescue. Basically, the theory of fundamental attribution error says that we think that we make our own life choices because we are tossed in the wind and the crazy, random happenstance of outside forces makes us who we are. I would have been fine with this course of events had they appeared in. In this book, Gale was my favorite. Katniss has the personality of a vegetable 2. These people and things are examples of antagonists because they do and belive in unfair and ruthless things that are only benificail to the Capitol and make the other Districts miserable.

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. . Snow's direct adversary is President Coin of District 13. Coin, however, insists on flipping for Katniss's other major demand - the right to personally execute Panem's President Coriolanus Snow. I would have almost rather heard the story from a third party watching a broken Mockingjay than the emptiness with which Katniss tells her story. In Catching Fire, these qualities diminished; she was mainly a pawn, a puppet for others to use for their own objectives. I literally have a list of the most beloved characters, and I've put stars in red pen against all those who die.

Katniss is standing with Plutarch Heavensbee, the former lead gamemaker of the Hunger Games, who has pretended to be working for the government, but in actuality is a rebel and ally of Katniss. In time the feeling will pass, I know, but at the moment I'm sorry for it. There were also advertisements for the book on websites such as and. And, yes, Katniss got a happily ever after, it's just not the one you wanted. By the end, everything is so messed up that Peeta vs. And Katniss is the one who gets hurt with her stupid obsession of him. The above are synonymous in the eyes of the Capitol.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

I thought I was something of an expert on hunger, but this is an entirely new kind. The bow and arrows did not have a place in the world of Mockingjay. I don’t know why exactly. Same reason Haymitch needed Katniss and Peeta in his life. Actually, it makes me not want anyone else to read the book ever. Katniss expereinces betrayal because she has to give up a lot to fight in the games. Not once in this book did I feel his love for her.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

This book is a sham. Here, more overtly than in the two earlier Hunger Games novels, Katniss is dealing with trauma. Gale never showed up in this book, not the intense Gale hiding a painful love for Katniss that I loved. He says she'll pick the one She can't survive without. What's he going to do with his life now? Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. It would be evil for any adult to keep her on retainer as a figurehead to inspire the people. Peeta is hijacked by using neurological venom and it almost ruins the victor and Katniss' love.
